Mrs. Kanyon Petti Wins TEACHER OF THE YEAR for Pickens County Schools
Mrs. Kanyon Petti won Teacher of the Year for the 2018-2019 school year for the Pickens County Schools. Mrs. Petti (also know as KP) teaches Language Arts at Pickens High School. She is also very active in extracurricular activities with students. In addition, she coaches the Dragon Cheerleading Teams for PHS. Congratulations to all our Teachers of the Year! We Love You!
Pride Of Pickens Marching Band Leaving For Chicago
On Tuesday, November 20, 2018, the Pride of Pickens Marching Band along with Staff and Chaperones depart for Chicago, Illinois. They will be marching in the Uncle Dan’s Thanksgiving Day Parade (formerly McDonalds Thanksgiving Parade) on November 22, 2018. This parade dates back to 1934 and over the years have drawn thousands as spectators. Over 300,000 spectators will be at the parade and it will be watched by over three million viewers on WGN (Chicago) and wgntv.com Please tune in to watch that morning!
We, the Band Family, would like to thank everyone who has supported our marchers over this 2018-2019 season. We ask that you send your prayers,best wishes, and thoughts as they journey to Chicago to represent Pickens County. Yay Band!
JMS Math Bowl Team Sweeps the Competition
The Jasper Middle School 6th Grade Berry Math team won 1st place at the Berry College Math Competition on September 20th. The team competed against 12 other schools in 3 rounds consisting of both individual and collaborative questions. In the individual rounds, Jeremy Westbrook won 1st place competing against 105 other students. Jasper Middle School is proud of the dedication and hard work of this team.

REACH Georgia Ceremony at PHS
Pickens County School celebrated our first REACH signing ceremony at PHS on October 23rd at PHS. REACH Georgia is the State of Georgia’s first mentorship and college scholarship program, launched by Governor Nathan Deal as a key component of the state’s Complete College Georgia Initiative. Our five REACH scholars: Annslee Bridges, Brandie Duckett, Salvador Gonzalez-Rodriguez, Jocelyn Rivera, and Alexand Thomas. Congratulations to these students.
Dragons Football Win Fox5 Team of the Week Award
"The undefeated Dragons (6-0) are on the verge of a special season. Their first goal is to win the top seed in Region 6-AAAA in order put themselves in position to win the first-ever playoff game in school history. Pickens qualified for the playoffs each of the last four years, but their lower seeding forced them to play perennial powerhouses Stephens County, Marist, Jefferson and Cartersville on those occasions which led to first-round exits..." Welcome to Pickens County Schools! Our Central Registration facility is located at 158 D.B. Carroll Street, Jasper, Georgia. The Registration Office is open Monday through Friday from 8:00am until 3:00pm and by appointment.

Pickens County Schools use Infinite Campus as our Online Grading and Student information system. Parents are allowed to establish an account or reset their password by emailing email@example.com. (This email must be sent from the parent or guardian email address listed in student's records.) If you need to update or change student information or email addresses, please send signed note to student's school.
The School Nutrition Services department is made up of a team of food and nutrition professionals that are dedicated to students' health, well being and their ability to learn. We support learning by promoting healthy habits for lifelong nutrition and fitness practices.
Meals, foods and beverages sold or served at schools meet state and federal requirements which are based on the USDA Dietary Guidelines. We provide students with access to a variety of affordable and appealing foods that meet the health and nutrition needs of students.

The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act includes the Child Find mandate. Child Find requires all school districts to identify, locate and evaluate all children with disabilities, regardless of the severity of their disabilities. This obligation to identify all children who may need special education services exists even if the school is not providing special education services to the child. The IDEA requires all States to develop and implement a practical method of determining whichchildren with disabilities are receiving special education and related services and which children are not. (20 U.S.C. 1412(a)(3); Wrightslaw: Special Education Law, pages 72, 206-207).

Spot Light on Attendance
Parents please write a note if your child is sick. All excuses must be provided to the school within 5 days of your child’s absence.
The Pickens County Parental Responsibility Act (Truancy Ordinance Section 42-7) allows for a child to miss (5) unexcused days.
All excuses, including medical and dental may be
faxed directly to the District Attendance Office at (706) 253-1712, with the exception of PHS excuses.
