2018-2019 Kindergarten Registration Beginning March 21st, 2018
The Pickens County School System will begin Kindergarten Registration appointments on March 21st in the Central Registration Center (Old JES Auditorium), 150 D.B. Carroll Street, Jasper, Georgia.
Call to 706.253.1770 to schedule an appointment. During your appointment time, your student will be given a basic skills assessment by a certified teacher.
April 24th, 2018 Lend Your Voice to Pickens County Schools' Future
The Pickens County School System is initiating a strategic planning process and invites you to participate! It is vital that we hear from our stakeholders on the future direction of the school district before the plan is developed. All parents, citizens, district employees and high school students are encouraged to attend. 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Pickens County Board of Education, 100 D.B. Carroll Street, Jasper.
Science and Social Studies Instructional MaterialsThe Pickens County School District will be adopting instructional materials for Science and Social Studies for all grade levels for the upcoming 2018-2019 school year. Teacher committees have made recommendations for these materials. The recommendations are available for public review at the Central Office the week of April 9th-13th, from 8:00-5:00. Appointments can be made by calling (706) 253-1700 and speaking with Dana Burton or Tony Young.
Dragon Stadium Construction
Installation of turf at Dragon Stadium is well under way. This field upgrade at PHS will allow the school movements and consolidations to begin over the summer.

ETC Ignite Education Grant Ceremony
We are pleased to announce Mrs. Traci Buckingham and her team won $10,000 in grant money to implement their proposal for an International Studies Room. Teachers would have access to "Little Passports" kits to teach hands on lessons about Geography. There would be individual centers around the room for learning language through technology and learning culture through art and music. In addition, there is money budgeted for The Center for Puppetry Arts to perform at the school. Congratulations and Great Job!
FREE Sports Physicals
On Saturday, April 28th, free sports physicals will be offered to any student athlete in the Pickens County School District. The physicals will be held at the Chattahoochee Technical College. More information to follow.

Pickens County Schools is now accepting Pre-K Registrations for the 2018 – 2019 school year at the Pickens County Schools Central Registration Center (Old JES Auditorium)

Pickens County Schools use Infinite Campus as our Online Grading and Student information system. Parents are allowed to establish an account or reset their password by emailing email@example.com. (This email must be sent from the parent or guardian email address listed in student's records.) If you need to update or change student information or email addresses, please send signed note to student's school.
The School Nutrition Services department is made up of a team of food and nutrition professionals that are dedicated to students' health, well being and their ability to learn. We support learning by promoting healthy habits for lifelong nutrition and fitness practices.
Meals, foods and beverages sold or served at schools meet state and federal requirements which are based on the USDA Dietary Guidelines. We provide students with access to a variety of affordable and appealing foods that meet the health and nutrition needs of students.

The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act includes the Child Find mandate. Child Find requires all school districts to identify, locate and evaluate all children with disabilities, regardless of the severity of their disabilities. This obligation to identify all children who may need special education services exists even if the school is not providing special education services to the child. The IDEA requires all States to develop and implement a practical method of determining whichchildren with disabilities are receiving special education and related services and which children are not. (20 U.S.C. 1412(a)(3); Wrightslaw: Special Education Law, pages 72, 206-207).

Pickens County Schools Release the New District Elementary Zones for the 2018 - 2019 School Year.
The Pickens County School District is preparing for upcoming changes and consolidations of schools to better serve the students and community of Pickens County. Rather than incurring the cost of building a new school, the BOE has approved a plan to restructure the school district. Four elementary schools will be consolidated into three. Two Middle schools will be reorganized into a 5th and 6th Grade school - Jasper Middle School, and a 7th and 8th grade school will be created - Pickens Jr. High School.
