May 23rd Schedule Adjustment

Pickens County School District is announcing a schedule adjustment for the final day of the 2024–2025 school year, which also coincides with high school graduation. To ensure a smooth and timely conclusion to the school day, as well as efficient transportation for both students and graduation attendees, we will release two hours early on Friday, May 23rd, for all students across the district.

This change will allow for the completion of standard bus routes in a timely manner and enable those buses to return and assist with shuttling families and guests to the graduation ceremony scheduled for later that day.

"We are committed to making the last day of school and graduation day a positive, organized, and memorable experience for our students and families," said Dr. Travis Thomas, Superintendent. "By slightly adjusting the schedule and having an early release, we can better manage transportation logistics and ensure that our graduates and their supporters arrive safely and on time."

New Dismissal Times for Friday, May 23rd:

  • Pickens High School and Pickens Junior High - 12:15 dismissal

  • All remaining schools (Harmony, Hill City, Tate and Jasper Middle) - 12:30 dismissal

Graduation will be Friday, May 23rd at 7:00 PM at Pickens High School stadium.

Please note that regular bus routes will run at the earlier dismissal time; buses will then be redeployed to support graduation shuttle services later in the day.

We appreciate the community’s support and flexibility as we work to celebrate the accomplishments of our students in the safest and most efficient way possible.
