The Georgia Department of Education recently released the four-year graduation rate for all high schools and school districts. We are happy to report that the graduation rate for the class of 2025 at Pickens High School is 95.4%.
The four-year graduation rate topped the state’s average of 87.2% by over 8.2%, according to a new report from the Georgia Department of Education released today. Additionally, PHS increased its 2025 four-year graduation rate over 3.5% from 2024. Georgia, along with the rest of the United States, calculates graduation rates based upon a 4-year cohort methodology.
“One of the beliefs in our school district is to strive for continuous improvement in student achievement. To see our graduation rate for the class of 2025 and to see the growth we had from 2024 when it was 91.8% is a remarkable testament to the resilience and commitment of our students, the dedication of our teachers, and the support of our families,” said Superintendent Dr. Travis Thomas. “One of our goals as a school district is to have every PHS graduate either enrolled, enlisted or employed once they earn their diploma and to be prepared for their next steps.”
Georgia calculates a 4-year adjusted cohort graduation rate as required by federal law. While all states use the same calculation, each state sets its own requirements for students to earn a regular high school diploma. Georgia has some of the highest requirements in the nation for students to graduate with a regular diploma. Georgia also calculates a 5-year rate, which tracks those students who need additional time to graduate.
