Pickens County School District  Ranks 14th in the State in SAT Average Outpacing Both the State and Nation

The 2025 SAT scores were published by the College Board this morning. The Pickens High School Class of 2025 earned a total mean score of 1093, ranking the Pickens County School District 14th in the state (out of 180 school districts)! Also, the district ranked 12th in the state in the section of Evidence-Based Reading and Writing and 17th in the state in the Math portion.

"We are incredibly proud of our students' SAT scores ranking this highly in the state,” Superintendent Dr. Travis Thomas praised. “These scores are not just numbers; they represent the hard work, perseverance, and dedication of both our students and our teachers. With an average score of 1093 out of a possible 1600, Pickens Class of 2025 bested the national average of 996 by 97 points, the Georgia state average of 1029 by 64 points, and last year's graduating class by 49 points.

Additionally, Pickens Class of 2025 recorded a mean score of 564 on the Evidence-Based Reading and Writing (ERW) portion of the assessment, and a mean score of 529 on the math portion. This is compared to averages of 526 and 502, respectively, for students in the nation's public schools. Lastly, this year marks the eighth year in a row that Georgia's public school students have outperformed the national average on the SAT.
