Sixteen students were selected to serve this year on the Superintendent's Student Advisory Council, and the first meetings were held today. Two students each from 5th-12th grade will meet with Dr. Thomas throughout the school year to discuss issues related to our schools, as well as ways to make our school district stronger.
Over 110 students applied to serve on this council by completing an application. Interested students discussed the biggest challenges facing students today and shared their personal skills and talents which would make them a valuable member on the council. "When we provide opportunities for students to share their voice, we empower them to shape their own learning experiences," said Dr. Travis Thomas.
