Hill City Elementary School has been recognized by the Governor’s Office of Student Achievement (GOSA) as a 2025 Bronze Award winner for Greatest Gains, highlighting the school’s significant academic growth and commitment to student success.

To earn Greatest Gains distinction, schools across Georgia must demonstrate consistently high performance in student achievement, specifically scoring at or above the 93rd percentile in progress over the past three school years. Hill City Elementary earned the Bronze distinction by showing measurable improvement in key academic areas, reflecting the dedication of its students, teachers, and staff.

“This recognition is a direct result of the hard work and focus our team puts into supporting every student, every day,” said Angela Kretschmar, principal of Hill City Elementary School. “We are proud of the progress our students have made and grateful to our teachers and families who continue to support their success.”

The Governor’s Office of Student Achievement uses data from statewide assessments and other performance indicators to identify schools that are making meaningful strides in closing achievement gaps and improving outcomes for all students.

Superintendent Dr. Travis Thomas added, “This award reflects the strong instructional practices and student-centered approach happening at Hill City Elementary School. We are proud to see their efforts recognized at the state level.”

The Bronze Award distinction places Hill City Elementary School among a select group of schools across Georgia that are leading the way in academic growth and continuous improvement.
