Due to the anticipated voter attendance for the Presidential primary and to provide the highest levels of safety for all schools and students, Tuesday, March 12th, 2024 will be a Digital Learning Day.

Congratulations to Harmony Elementary School received the Diamond Star School status for their dedication and support with the Georgia Schools Care initiative to raise funds for Georgia’s foster care children. Way to go!

Help a Child Smile Mobile Dental Program is offering dental services to students who
do not already have a dentist. Please contact your child's school nurse for more information.

Prevent Blindness of Georgia is offering to provide free vision screenings, eye exams, and glasses to students in need. See email for further information or call nurse Gail Smith at (706) 669-5327.

2024-25 Preschool Registration is Open!
Students must be 4 years old on or before September 1st. Applications will be accepted until 4:00 pm on March 25th and the lottery will be held on March 28th.

PCSD has partnered with Just Right Readers to supply all third graders with books of their own. Three times during the semester students will receive personally curated collections of books which they can keep!



PCSD students, who are part of the Pickens Page Turners recently competed in a literacy-based competition at PHS on February 10th. The event, organized by the District’s Media Specialists, was sponsored by Kappa Kappa Iota and part of the Tome Society, a book club for students in grades 2-12 in which students in our local chapter read and created items to enter in the competition.
Students competed for metals and scholastic book fair gift certificates and had a presentation by local author, Nan Flickinger, who wrote Ellie J’s Apples, about writing and illustrating children’s books.
