
Pickens Junior High School's 8th grader studentAbby Benton has overcome obstacles in order to achieve academically. Abby has high marks in all of her classes because of her determination to succeed. Her Skills for Adolescents teacher, Claire Eubanks, said of Abby, "she is very focused and when she puts her mind on something, she is determined to complete the task at hand".


Winter is here and PCSD would like to remind everyone of our inclement weather procedures. The PCSD community will be notified of weather-related closings, delays, or early releases via Infinite Campus, the district website, social media posts on our district page, and various media outlets. PCSD's staff spotlight for January is Elvia Towers. Mrs. Towers is a dedicated ESOL teacher who works with students at Hill City Elementary and Jasper Middle Schools. Mrs. Towers is passionate about supporting her students and parents, as well as bridging cultural gaps within the school community.

Congratulations to Tate Elementary's Addie Harris, our student Dragon Award winner for the month of December, for going above and beyond to help others without being asked when seeing another student in need of help. Thank you for being an Unsung Hero!


Liam Knoll, a third-grader at Hill City Elementary, noticed a messy school bathroom and took it upon himself to clean it up — all without being asked! It’s not every day that someone volunteers for a task like this, but Liam saw a need and stepped up to help. #pcsdgrowingkindness


As we wrap up our 30-day PCSD Growing Kindness initiative, we need to give a shout out to PCSD’s Jennifer Wilson for spearheading the initiative and working tirelessly behind the scenes taking photos, creating posts, posting to our website, and connecting with the non-profits that our initiative supported.


Harmony Elementary School is sharing and spreading the kindness to their teachers and staff byby creating a hideaway lounge for them to unwind and relax in.


PCSD’s Central Office staff have been continuing the kindness by donating to two animal rescues - Wet Noses Animal Rescue Inc. and Pickens Animal Rescue Ranch.


Pickens Junior High School’s JOY Club (Junior Optimist Youth Club) students collaborate and help their friends make cards, play games, and spread joy throughout our school.


Congratulations to Jasper Middle School for having the best staff attendance for the month of November!


Jasper Middle School students working on boxing and loading pantry items for a canned food drive that they did in partnership with PHS’s Skills USA and HOSA clubs. Their efforts resulted in over 1,700 items to donate!


Thanks to the generosity of our PCSD Central Office staff our little food pantry is well stocked for the upcoming holiday season.
